Nice schedule last week

posted in Brandon, As a Mama |

Remember in the middle of last week I wrote out the 9:30pm bedtime?  I was following a schedule for the whole week.  We have to sacrifice and have our dinner at 5pm.  By the time my son finishes his, it will be around 5:30pm.  Sometimes I started feeding his dinner before 5pm.  That means I started cooking around 4:20pm.  People in KL are just starting to have tea time and we here are having dinner.  But it all works out great!

  1. Feed dinner at 5pm.
  2. Some type of activity 6-7pm. (visit MIL’s house, walking around the block, park)
  3. Bath time 7-730pm.
  4. Mommy own time 7:30pm-8pm.
  5. Daddy play time with Brandon 7:30-8:15pm.
  6. Mommy bath time 8pm.
  7. Warming milk 8:15pm.
  8. Milk time 8:30pm.
  9. Mommy reading time 8:35-8:45pm.
  10. Getting ready to sleep 8:45-9pm.

This schedule works for me now.  I will stick to this one.  So no going out later than 7pm for us anymore.  We have to be home by 7:15pm the latest.

So now he sleeps early, it also means he wakes up early in the morning.  At 7am he will be up.  Before, he would sleep till raound 8-9pm.  I will have some morning time to myself.  Now I have the night time to myself for about 2 hours.  Same same.

Almost forgot to note, by end of the week, I ended up sleeping (teman) with him in his room.  So no more running otut the room, screaming or crying session.  Being inside the room helps much more than the initial plan of staying outside the room.  He slept faster, no more crying and for me, it saved my energy meter.  Both happy.

We have friends who have dinner at 5.30pm too. Their kids go to bed around 8.30pm. Belle has her dinner around 5.30/6pm at the in-law’s..but this girl will get hungry around 8-ish. Milk will not be sufficient for her..so we always end up giving her fruits, yogurt or cheese stick. It’s good that Brandon just need the milk.

my girl wakes at 7am too for the past one month (used to be 8pm/8.30am).
nap also brought forward to 11.30am.
because everything brought forward already, she sleeps at 7pm/7.30pm at nite.
when her daddy comes home, he only gets to see her for 15 - 30 mins.

she has her dinner at 5pm too.

WAH … she sleeps so early … and for 12 hours straight. I want that too … but I don’t think it will happen here.

My son goes to bed between 8pm and 9:15pm and wakes up between 6am and 6:45am. He could never sleep beyond 7am! And he could only stay awake for about 5-6 hrs. That means, he naps around 11:30am - 1:30pm and goes to bed around 8pm. Because his nap time is smacked right in the middle of lunch time, I have to give him brunch at about 10:30am before his nap. My boy has a small tummy, and if he has 8oz milk and some cereal in the morning for breakfast, he could never have his lunch anymore. So I just give him milk and a very little snack. My problem is, if I wait for him to wake up and only then give him his lunch, it will be too late, and then, his dinner will have to be early to accommodate his milk time and bed time at 8pm, thus, a very small interval of meal time in the afternoon.

So I know where you are coming from, about your son’s schedules!

Your schedule is quite tight too. My son now naps around 1:30pm to 2:30pm. I was able to give him his lunch around 11:30am (if I am done making it) and he probably finishes around 12-12:30pm, depends what he is having. Then before his nap, he wants his milk. That’s the reason I had to move his lunch time earlier. Or else, his tummy where can fit the milk. I would want to put him to nap at 1pm but the ILs will come over after his lunch to stay about 30 mins or so … so napping at 1pm won’t work … unless I tell them not to come over.

My kids used to sleep by 9pm too, but nowadays they tend to go to bed only at about 11 or 12mn :S Teruk!

I can understand because Brandon use to be like that too. He was not the one that tired but I AM! So tired and restless. Luckily with this new schedule it works out great. though sometimes he still doesn’t sleep till around 9:45pm. I had to be laying next to him but i wasn’t much tired or anything since is still early for me.

that sounds like a good schedule. i’ve been playing with my daughter’s schedule as well. i think we give her too much milk before she sleep (4-8 oz). she will use the potty at least twice before finally sleeping so it takes 90 min. to put her to sleep. just started today, we changed the milk schedule. today, 2 oz of milk before her nap: 30-40 min. only to put her to sleep! hopefully, tonight will have similar success.
