Brandon’s napping time
Brandon doesn’t nap on the same time everyday because he wakes up at a different time every morning. And on the weekend, it is harder for us to follow any schedule as we are usually out from the home. Sometimes he naps in the car for 15-30 minutes and that’s the nap for the day. He doesn’t get too tired even after short naps. He still sleeps around 10pm at night.
Yesterday he was able to nap at 1:30pm after his milk. He requested his milk and then slowly dozing off while finishing up the milk. That’s the easiest way for him to fall asleep and I am happy if he can sleep like that everyday but no. Today, he woke up about the same time as yesterday and had his milk at 1:30pm. But this time, he was all enegertic after the milk and was running around. I told him to get up to his bed and rest his eyes. He did it but after 2 minutes or so, he would come down from his bed and again I had to bring him to his bed again. All the while I was sitting next to his bed. This happened a many times and I decided at 2:30pm I needed to go wash his milk bottle and told him to stay in the bed. And if he comes out of the bed and out of the room, I would close his bedroom door.
As I suspected, the moment I walked out his bedroom, he came down from his bed and walking towards the door. I reminded him again to be on the bed that I just go out to wash the milk bottle. He didn’t go back to the bed but continued walking towards the door. So I closed the bedroom door and went out to wash his milk bottle.
He was crying behind the closed door. I quickly washed the milk bottle and returned to open his door. It was probably only 2 minutes the most I left him inside. Why did I bother to go back so quickly? Because I was afraid that he might throw up after crying too much. But luckily it didn’t happen.
I carried the crying boy to his bed, wiped his tears and face with a face towel and told him to sleep. Less than 5 minutes … he went to lala land already. Now I have to wash dishes … finish up typing posts which are pending … continue packing … and get ready for my dentish appointment at 4pm.

Kids sleep easily after crying hoh… I think the emotional exertion makes them tired *LOL*
Agree!

at one time for a period of about 3 weeks, my girl didn’t take any nap (refused to and hyperactive) - i didn’t mind bcoz by 7pm she would be too tired and fall asleep for the rest of the nite. but after that she has began napping again at abt 12 noon for 1-1.5 hrs. very easy to get her to nap (only if she wants to, otherwise i allow her to stay up as long as she doesn’t go napping at 4 or 5pm). ask her to lie down on the spring mattress, give her her smelly towel and put blanket over her, close the door but slighly ajar and that’s it. most of the time she’ll go to sleep
i’m also very surprised she’s this easy (compared to all the days leading up to 17 months of age, it’s a total nightmare, had to rock her in the arms!). nite time is also very easy, after finishing her milk in the cot, put blanket, say goodnite, close the door and that’s it. if she’s not tired enough, we could hear her via the monitor, she’d get up to play with the books and toys we left at the foot of the cot, she’d be talking, singing for abt 5-10 mins until she falls asleep.
She’s definitely a very good girl, can play by herself until she gets sleepy. Brandon will only fall asleep when drinking milk when he is really tired or else, he will get up and down the bed again.

Phew…I’m really glad my Lucas is a routine fella. He goes to sleep and wakes up like clockwork! That’s the reason I don’t dare complain about his peculiarities nowadays coz this is a real blessing.
I guess this makes you a Mum ready for all kinds of surprises lor…
