Clean up after playtime

Messy Room

The more toys we have, the more headache I get. Brandon doesn’t understand ‘clean up’. Usually he left his mess this way and I will slowly organize them back into the boxes after he sleeps (afternoon and night). I just can’t stand the untidy room so I need to do it. And I can’t stand scolding him everytime asking him to pick up his toys and put them back where they supposed to be.

When I ask him to clean up. Most of the time, he would just look at me or continue throwing more toys out the boxes. Or if I show him how to do it, he would pick one up and look at me, then put back down to where the toy was before he picked up. *sigh* I keep telling him, “Put in here, the box … see Mommy picks up the block and put inside the box. Now, let’s see how you do it.” And he thought is play time, he takes blocks from the floor and throw it elsewhere. *double sigh*

A lot of times I scolded him for not putting back where the toys and he would throw tantrum because I scolded him. He would then lay down on the floor and kick. *roll eyes*

So let me ask you:

How do you get your kids to clean up after his/her play time?
