Moments in My Life

Again this morning

Again this morning

This morning Brandon woke up and had his morning milk.  After he was done, he sat up and started coughing.  He ended up vomiting his milk again.  When the clock struck 9am, I picked up the phone to call the doctor.  First time I called, the line was busy.

Then I waited 5 minutes and called again.  I got the hold of the nurse and told her the symptom.  She said there’s no need to go in yet, just monitor his condition for the next few days.  If there’s fever and he stilll throwing up his food, then we will have to bring him in.  She suggested getting some over the counter (OTC) medicine to help with his congestion, but I told her I prefer not to feed him any medicine if possible.

There were a few recalls on the OTC medicine recently and I definitely don’t want any of those stuff in my boy’s system.  It may reduce the symptom but won’t help to cure the whole condition.

Do you use any OTC when your kids are sick?  If so what brands?

Honestly, I don’t even know which OTC to buy since there are just too many brands and types around.

Going organic!

I know we try to be healthy and will pay for high quality organic food. But do you know organic also comes in the thing we wear now? There are many organic baby items like organic cloth diapers and even organic baby socks too. You can learn more about this topic, just visit Organic Baby Clothes and Products website. The site looks very simple and plain, I personally think that the site could use a bit more colors as well as some pictures.  But no doubt, it has a lot of information you can gather about organic clothing and other products.

Disneyland on a rainy day

January 25th 2008

It is best to visit Disneyland today. Why? Because it was after the rain, and there weren’t a lot of people in the parks at all.

This morning we asked Brandon where he would like to go and his answer was … DISNEYLAND!! Well, he didn’t say Disneyland but instead ‘nen‘. The rained stopped so we thought we would just head out and see. When arrived at Disneyland, there was still no rain. Good we thought. I was prepared with a tri-fold umbrella, just in case. It was cold but we all were dressed appropriately so that’s OK!

There were no lines to get inside the parks. Very unusual for this time of the day. We arrived a little before noon.  The last time we went around this time, we qeued for 5 minutes to get in.  Today, there was no need to wait.  Once inside the park on Main Street, it was basically the least crowd I’ve seen.

We went to the Baby Care Center to change Brandon’s diaper and let him do #1 on the children’s potty. We visited this station 3 times within the 2.5 hours we were there. And all the 3 times, he did go on the potty.

Most of the rides were no lines. We went to the Submarine Nemo rides and hope the line was short, but it was not. So we skipped and went to eat our lunch. We found the best spot! Underneath these ceiling fans at the French Market.

While I fed Brandon his fish porridge lunch, Alan went to buy us the Fried Chicken meal. It comes with 3 pcs of chicken, a side salad and french fries. I think the price was $10.99 plus sales tax and Alan got a soda for himself, $2.69 plus sales tax. Alan and I shared this meal.

Brandon enjoyed looking at the fans while we peacefully had our lunch. There’s entertainers playing on the stage too.

And in the middle of our lunch, we saw a familiar icon walking passed outside. During that time I was feeding Brandon, so I told Alan to go take a pictures so I can blog about him. Here is the picture Alan took.

After lunch, I wanted to take the Pirate of the Caribbean’s ride but was afraid Brandon didn’t like it so I had to pass. We parkhopped to California adventure after that and went to the Merry-Go-Around ride. This is Brandon’s favorite ride. I think when he rides this, it goes up and down and has the feeling of being inside an elevator.

Merry Go Around

Wanted to take him see the ceiling fans inside the Tortillas making company but the ride was closed. So we park hopped back to Disneyland and went to Gibson to enjoy the ice cream. There was no line when I ordered my Chocolate Chip Hot Fudge Sundae for $5.79 plus sales tax. I thought it would be served on a waffle cup but nope, it was on a regular cup only.

It comes with two scoops of vanilla ice-cream, two freshly baked Nestle Tollhouse chocolate chip cookies, topped with whip cream, chocolate morsels, hot fudge and a cherry. I found the cookies weren’t as fresh and I would say this is the best ice-cream I ever had. It was very ordinary. I wish I had the other with waffle cup because their waffle really really crunchy and tasty. Sort of like the love letters.

Behind the counter at Gibson

When I placed my order, the counter behind was preparing my order. Got my ice-cream in less than 1 minute.

Found a table under these ceiling fans. Brandon asked for a few spoons of ice-cream and I gave him very little. While having our ice-cream we saw the crowd in this ice-cream store was increasing. More and more people came in for ice-cream even though it’s kinda cold outside.

We left the parks after ice-cream and it was around 2:30pm. Brandon took his afternoon nap while we were driving back.

Playing golf

When I was young, my father encouraged me to golf. He even bought the golf shoes for me during his business trip to Singapore. I was very lazy then thus didn’t continue to advance. But my father is still actively playing golf whenever he has the time. He always looks to improve his golfing skill. He bought books on golf and also signed up for online golf instruction at 24-7GolfCoach. This online golf coaching site was very helpful as it provides extensive instructional video and with his membership, he can access to the Members Only area with customized golf instructions as well as video vault. If you are interested to lower your golf score, sign up with 24-7GolfCoach now.

Cough until vomit

Friday morning, Brandon woke up very early asking for milk.  Usually I wake up before he does and warm the milk before he wakes up.  But that particular morning, he actually had asked for his milk around 4am, but I told him to sleep more and have the milk when he wakes up in the morning.  He woke up at 6:40am.

While sitting on the potty, he was screaming for his milk.  I kept telling him to stop screaming as it won’t help the milk to warm up quicker.  He didn’t listen and kept screaming and crying until the highest pitch he could get from his voice cord.  I was very upset about that because I told him to stop but he just wouldn’t stop.  I walked away and let Hubby took over.  Brandon was upset when I walked away and he cried more.  I took a few minutes away then I went back into comfort him.  It was better then.  He calmed down after viewing some photos of ‘ceiling fans‘ on my laptop.

That afternoon, we came back from Disneyland and he had his milk.  After finishing the milk, he sat up and started coughing.  I sensed something, so I took him off the bed and onto the carpeted floor.  Quickly, I grabbed the trash bin and he threw mostly inside the plastic bag but his socks were wet a little.  He felt better afterwards with an empty stomach.

He still cough once in a while and when he does, the cough is hard and like he needs to get the phelgm out his system.  Everytime I asked him to spit it out but he swallow it back.  *sigh* … I know, he still doesn’t understand the term spit it out.

Sunday afternoon, in the car.  I was outside shopping for grocery while Hubby inside the car with a sleeping Brandon.  When I returned to the car, I was surprised to see Brandon was awake because he should have slept longer.  Hubby said he coughed until woke up and threw up a bit of phelgm in a plastic bag.  I fed him Gerber stage 3 green beans and in the plastic bag, there were not much green stuff, mostly clear and thick.  That’s why I concluded it was phelgm.

Sunday evening, he took his night feeding of milk and after that, he requested to use the potty.  While sitting there, he started coughing again.  I immediately took the plastic bowl (prepared this time around), and he threw up all his milk plus the dinner.  He continued coughing until he felt nothing else going to come out then he stopped.  We let him had some warm water afterwards.

He has no fever, I’ve been checking.  But with a little runny nose and congestion.  I search the www with ‘cough and vomit‘ and came up with Whooping Cough.  The symptoms kind of match except with no fever.  I better give a call to his doctor tomorrow to make sure he is OK.  He has been vaccinated with DTaP but we never know.

Tonite, he probably will wake up again asking for milk as he slept with a really empty stomach.  So I better go sleep now, 12am … I’ve been tired too because he didn’t sleep too well last night due to his nose congestion.

Oh, he didn’t have any of the UNCoffee Chiller we bought last Thursday.

A cup of chiller on a raining day

When it comes the rainy days, I always have the craving for something cold. I don’t know why but when is cold, I like to have a cup of ice-cream. Crazy huh?

January 24th, 2008

Anyway, on Thursday evening after our dinner, we went to the Del Amo Mall to walk around. A good place to be when is raining outside. Furthermore, after our trip to the restaurant to get our dinner, Brandon was kinda disappointed as he didn’t get to go somewhere there’s fan. So he was fussing on the way back home and I told him we would visit the Mall after dinner. Only then he calmed down.

A promise is a promise. So after dinner, we headed out to the Mall. We parked in the structure and went to Joann to check out some stuff for my cake decorating class. Never would I expect to be shopping for more stuff after every class.

Then we stopped by Brandon’s favorite shop - the Gloria Jean’s. He loves this store so much because it has two ceiling fans that always spinning inside whenever we are there.

We usually pass by this shop without going in.

The fan

This evening I craved for something cold so we went in to get a cup of something. While Brandon was gazing upon his favorite item in the shop, I took a quick glance on the menu. Then I decided to get a drink without coffee, just in case if “someone” wanted a sip from it. I was skeptical if this Coffee shop has chiller without coffee, but they do. It is called the UNCoffee Chillers.

UNCoffee drinks at Gloria Jean’s

We asked for the Strawberry Vanilla UNCoffee Chiller with whip cream. Since we both sharing one cup, we asked for the regular size, $4.75.

UNCoffee Strawberry Vanilla Chiller

It was yummy and sweet. When I think about the cost of this chiller, it is almost the same price as a lunch meal. May be next time I will go with something more healthy like a Jamba Juice instead of this UNCoffee Chiller.

Still Christmas here

Driving around our neighborhood, I notice some of the homes still have the string of Christmas lights decoration on the eaves. I don’t think the owner will be taking those down as we are way past Christmas and putting them up neatly requires a lot of patient and time. I guess he or she probably just going leave it there until this year’s Christmas.

A side note, I also seen many LED Christmas lightings around as they helps save the energy cost. We just bought a set of 4 solar landscape lightings from Target that use LED technology too. I like the pure white color when lighted in the evening. The set is pretty nice too, they look like lanterns.
