My First Mother’s Day Gift
Back in 2006, my first Mother’s Day, I was surprised to receive one of the most beautiful fruit baskets ever from a couple friends of mine. I didn’t even receive anything from my own spouse and yet this couple sent me something to remind me that I am a mother and my task is priceless. I was so busy caring for my then 3 months old baby that I didn’t even remember it was Mother’s Day.
I’ve met Kathleen and Anthony back in my college years while I was in Whittier. I rented a room in their townhome and almost every night, I was invited to join them for dinner. They are a wonderful couple and we’ve grown very close together. After my college years, I moved and settled in Southbay area, but yet I still occasionally drop by Whittier to visit them whenever we can. About two years later, Kathleen found a part time pastor job at Walteria First Methodist Church and they moved to Southbay into the parsonage. A year later, they bought their own home in the same neighborhood and sold the town home in Whittier.
Before Brandon, we were able to meet up more often. Sad to say, now we only meet up may be once a month or two. We have great and intellectual conversations on many different topics. I seem to be smarter when I am around with them. And now they are planning to move again, but this time is going to be far away to the North Eastern of America.
Although they may be far away, we will always be close at hearts. If I miss them, I will just hop online to The Fruit Company and send them the world’s finest fruit baskets with fruits primarily grown in the lush of Hood River Valley in Oregon. They offer gift baskets or boxes for many occasions like birthdays and thank you, they also have business gifts for offices. This company has been mentioned in “O” The Oprah Magazine with good reviews.
