Las Vegas Day 1
December 24th 2007
This morning I woke up early to make lunch for Brandon to bring along for the trip. I made sushi roll for him. Wrapped each roll up individually with saran wrap.

We were able to gather ourselves and leave home at 8:50am.

Traffic wasn’t bad at all on 91 East. Hubby drove all the way to Las Vegas while me and Brandon were sitting at the back. Brandon fell asleep after about 1.5hr into our trip. I took a short nap myself.

We arrived at Primm Valley Outlet Mall around 12:10pm. We dropped by for a little Christmas shopping. Bought myself a Banana Republic Top and a fleece pants for Brandon. Hubby got a zipper front jacket from Gap.It was about 1pm by the time we finished shopping and we have another 30 minutes before reaching Las Vegas. It would be too late for lunch if we waited till then. So we grabbed a quick bite at the Mac Donalds next to the outlet mall.
While waiting for Hubby to order our food, I gave Brandon his sushi rice but he only managed to eat 1 roll (4″). He was given some bread in the car during the drive to Primm, so I was sure he wasn’t much hungry.

For us, we had nuggets, fries and a Big & Tasty burger. It has been a very long time since I had MacD. It was good but the onion in the burger was too strong of an after taste for me.
It was about 2pm when we entered LV.

We arrived at Mandalay Bay Lobby around 2:15pm. Check in time supposed to be at 3pm but we were given a room when we checked-in even it was before 3pm. By the time we got into our room and unpacked it was already close to 3pm. We had a King Size Non Smoking room. The room was not big, but the bathroom is nice (it has a tub, a separate shower, an enclosed toilet, two sinks and a 15″ wall mounted LCD TV. Will blog about the room and hotel another time.
Repacked the backpack and we headed out again around 4pm after Brandon had his milk. Our plan was to walk to Planet Hollywood which was previous Aladdin Hotel. The purpose - to buy the calendar for SIL plus a walk down the strip for us. We took a tram from Mandalay Bay to Excalibur Hotel. Then walked across the bridge from Excalibur to New York New York (west side of the strip) and then to MGM Hotel (on the east side of the strip). It was very dry and cold, probably around 40F. Brandon didn’t want to use gloves but he let us put on a fleece beanie for him.

The crowd was bad and there were many traffic lights to stop at and when the light turned green, everyone tried to rush across the street as quickly as possible. Imagine us with the stroller had to maneuver among the incoming crowd as well as the crowd we were walking with.
People were smoking everywhere here in Las Vegas. If you have a small kid with you, you have to be extra careful that the cigarette ash doesn’t fall on your kid’s head. You don’t want a little fireplace on his/her head.
Along the way to Planet Hollywood, Brandon fell asleep in his stroller. We thought this might be a good time for us to catch dinner. Hubby said he wasn’t feeling too well and didn’t want a heavy dinner. We walked back to our hotel on the opposite side of the strip which has lesser crowd due to a construction (City Center - new development) between Monte Carlo and Bellagio.
Stopped at Monte Carlo and had Rubio’s Fish Taco at the food court for my dinner. Brandon woke up then. Hubby bought himself a Starbuck lemonade green tea. I thought Brandon would be hungry by now but he didn’t want to eat the sushi roll. He didn’t want my taco either. One of motherhood’s headaches is when the kid didn’t want to eat. I fed him a baby food from the jar, it was the 3rd stage Fruit Medley by Gerber.
Then we went back to the hotel and never left the room again. After giving Brandon his bath, I enjoyed a nice bubble bath for about 5 minutes before jumping into the shower to wash up. It is really relaxing - the bubble bath. Wish I can do it more often. We rested early that night and woke up very early the next day.
To be continue …
