One good thing about living in California is you may go to the beach for surfing and then later that day, go up to the mountain for skiing on a winter day. I have experienced a hot Christmas week with temperature up to 70s during the day time. And they are making snow up in the mountain. A good day driving between the beach and mountain takes only about 2-3 hours. So people, you can kill two totally outrageous sports by visiting one city - Los Angeles.
If you have plan visiting Los Angeles during the Christmas break, it may be a good time to be spending a few days on the beach, ‘Go Slow‘ as Mad Gringo would say. Ladies, remember to bring along your sarongs if you are dropping over for a beach Christmas vacation. You have no sarongs? No worry, check out Mad Gringo collection of beautiful sarongs online.
I always love hibiscus, my home country’s national flower. This is one that I would like to get - Surfside Hibiscus design. They even have a similar color and design Hawaiian Shirt (Vanuatu Hibiscus) that you ladies can get for your spouse/partner.
I think I have one similar design mini beach wrap in bright red. My hubby would go crazy if I put it on. May be because is just too bright for him. LOL!

Thank you for all kind comments regarding “If I should get a sewing machine?”. As for now, this item will be on hold as I will have to keep looking for a better unit before purchasing. MIL suggested not getting the Brother sewing machine as it is not a good brand for sewing but only for altering and small repairs (I know she would say that if I brought it up with her).
She said will not be good to put the denim fabric through this machine. She is a seamstress; she may have higher demand in her sewing machine that’s why Brother’s may not be suitable for her. She has a industrial quality sewing in her home and she is professional sewer, unlike me, a beginner. The reviews at Amazon were of a mixture, some said it’s good but others said not.
Like Aida has suggested, I would probably go to the store to check them out first. Try it hands on before deciding which machine to buy. My budget for this is not huge, probably anything less than $300.

In my college years, I pursued chemistry as my major. Thus, I graduated with a Bachelor of Art in Chemistry from Whittier College. Why Bachelor of Art and not Science? Because my college is a Liberal Art private school so all the degrees that issued are B.A. and not B.S. Not sure if they had any changes since my graduation. But I doubt it.
My intention was not to become a doctor (but I could) because I was afraid of being emotional when dealing with patients. And on top of that, I did not want to spend another 5 or more years in school. But deep in my heart, I really wish I had learned a little about the medical field. When I saw my mom went through series of chest x-ray when cancer was found in her lungs, how I wished at that moment I took radiologic technology program. I am the type of person that likes to understand and possess the skill of all types of area. But mainly medical because I’ve seen my mom went through so much and learning about Medical Assistant Program would have helped me understand the better way to assist her when she was sick.
Anyway, when I was a young girl, I thought doctors were always men and nurses were always female. But this is no longer the case. I have a male friend who took up Vocational Nursing Program and now is a nurse in UCLA Medical center. His pay is really good too. Median salary for a license Practical Nurse in San Mateo (SF area) is around $42,000. Job outlook always been good for nurses, they are always in demand and the program schedule doesn’t that long to complete, only 14 months.
May be when my kid/s grown up or went to college, I may consider going back to school to take up nursing. Nurses are always needed everywhere anytime.
