That much taxes and fees?!
My hand was itchy and did a search for ticket fare to Malaysia. Guess what I found out? The total taxes for both of us, me and Brandon, can actually pay for another child’s ticket. It is a hefty close to $350 a piece.
This fare was quoted online from MAS website for an adult and a child round trip tickets from LAX to KUL in the month of Jan 2008.
Travelers Price
Base Fare (1 adult) = $ 850.00
Base Fare (1 child) = $ 638.00
Taxes and Fees = $ 689.80Total Price = $ 2177.80 (1088.90 Average per person)
I am actually thinking of visiting Malaysia during coming Chinese New Year, I know if my aunt would be very happy and excited upon reading this post. But man … the taxes and fees are crazy! Even if I purchase an infant ticket for Brandon, the taxes and fees remain the same. I still remember the days where the total taxes and fee were only $100 plus per person.
By the way, anyone knows exact dates for CNY?

My MIL say CNY is on 7 FEB.
Eh for air ticket try Cathay Pacific and Thai Airways, is cheaper than MAlaysia Airlines lah.
Thanks for the CNY date. I’ve asked the travel agent and was told MH has the cheapest.

we were actually hoping to make it home for CNY 2008 too but still hv not actioned on it. dare not put our hopes too high, might not eventuate after all. anyway, our travels are always spontaneous, so we’ll never know till the last minute
Actually my plan also “15/16″, not really confirmable yet. The price is too high to have me say YES immediately.

Wah, the fare over here in Hong Kong during CNY is sky high. Compared to the normal days, I have to pay double the price to get home.
This fare is good for early Jan departure, I think CNY is higher too, especially for flights going back to the East.

wah….. so ex but being home for CNY is priceless wor! Then we can have gathering lioa!!!!
But-but, you can handle Brandon alone during the flight?
Whatever issit, let me know ok!
I think I can handle him better now compare to two months before, when Joann was in KL. Now he can understand my command and I can understand what he wants (most of the time). I think it ‘may’ be easier now.
