You Make Me Smile

Smile Award

Fellow blogger friend of mine Judy send me this award.  Thank you so much, I am glad that I make you smile everytime you come to my blog.I have started blogging a long time back but I don’t update much of my blog then until I started a new blog at Family, Friends, Food and Fun. When I was very excited to see my readership increased when I started to blog hop during my late 2nd trimester as I was confined to bedrest. I see readers coming and leave me comments and we share new experience together.

Also through blogging I’ve known many mommies who had babies in the year 2006, the year of all doggies babies. I was more excited to read other’s motherhood experiences as well as sharing mine on the blog.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all of you for your continue support to my blogging journals whether is at Family, Friends, Food and Fun, or here Moment of My Life or there Los Angeles My Home or at my Shopping blog

With this, I would like to forward this special award to my friends I known from blogging.  You too put a big smile to my face when I read your blogs:

My cousin sis delivered her 2nd baby!!

Congrats to her (born same year as me) and her family.  She just delivered her 2nd baby at UH this morning.  My other cousin sis logged on MSN Messenger just to inform me the good news.  Thanks Eiko-chan.  Now we’ll be waiting for the boy’s name and pictures.

Initially she planned to deliver her baby in Penang.  But she developed Bells Palsy beginning of this month.  Since then, she was consulting with a specialist at UH and they told her she needed to deliver the baby at UH so they can monitor her after the delivery.

Alignment problem with Wordpress

I’ve been having alignment problems with Wordpress version 2.2.  Haven’t done the upgrade yet.  Not sure if the upgrade is to rectify this problem.

What I encounter is my paragraphing always mismatched with the way I wanted them to be.  I have them nicely paragraphed while typing the post, but after clicking ‘Publish’, and then ’View blog’, I see all my paragraphs connected in 1 huge writing.  I had to then go back to edit several times before getting the way I wanted them to be.  I tried typing out in Code and Visual, both the same problem.  I even tried puting in the para coding<> but then the code will be taken off by Wordpress after I view them in Visual.

Another problem is when I have picture.  Usually I go to the Code and skip a line before starting a paragraph.  But when I publish it, the paragraph was not skipped a line.  I went back to edit and saw the first sentence of the post was moved to the end of the img coding and my skipped line was not there.

I want to find out what I am doing wrong.  Just wondering if any of you have this problem?

Happy Mid-Autumn Festival

Mooncake

Happy Mid-Autumn Festival, ‘Jung Chow Jit Fai Lok

Come join me to share the above mooncake.

Above is a piece of 2 yolk lotus filling mooncake made from Macau. We only can find mooncake imported from Hong Kong, China or Macau. No imported ones from Malaysia. I remember my mom used to buy Tai Thong Mooncakes. She shopped the day after to get 50% off mooncakes. But usually not much varieties left.

I personally prefer plain with no yolk ‘bing pei‘ (snow skin) mooncake that needs to be refrigerated.  Like this blogger, I also like snow skin by itself a lot.  But we couldn’t get any of this kind here.

Also, here it is difficult to find single mooncake for sale.  Usually you have to buy in box of 4.  I was able to find 1 mooncake by itself for $6.99.  I don’t like too yolks as I prefer the mooncake to be sweet and not salty sweet.  But this single mooncake only comes in 1 type - double yolks lotus paste.  Since I do not have the selection, I got it.

I only eat 1/8 of the mooncake once a day.  I started the first piece yesterday.  Hubby not a fan of mooncake so I can have the whole 1 double yolks for myself.

There will not be lanterns festival here, at least not one nearby.  It will be just a normal fall evening with a bright big moon above.

Simple & Easy dinner

I don’t have much time to prepare dinner. Eating out too much get bored too. Sometimes I just don’t know what I want to buy to-go for dinner. So a simple home dinner is much better than eating out. Seen here is Gailan (Chinese broccoli) with Teriyaki Chicken and rite.

I boil a pot of water for the vege. Teriyaki Chicken is prepared frozen food from Sam’s club. Just take it out from the freezer and put in the oven at 400°F. It takes about 15-20 minutes to heat up in my toaster oven. While that is cooking in the oven, water still waiting to boil, I rinse the rice and put in the rice cooker. Once the water is boiling, I blanch the gailan (add a little salt and rice wine - shao xing in the boiling water), drain and drizzle some sesame oil plus soy sauce. In about 30 minutes we have a homecooked meal.

Tree House at Wilson Park

Me & Brandon
Time for picture again. Been so long that I’ve took a picture with Brandon. We went kaikai at Wilson Park in Torrance some weekend ago and Daddy was there. I requested for our pictures to be taken and Daddy helped. This was taken by a HUGE tree house in the park. Brandon was very busy running around, hardly wanted to stop for any picture. Luckily, Daddy caught the picture in time as he turned facing the camera. Good job Daddy!

Facebook

This is a short entry.  I am supposed to be in bed now, 12:30am.  Blogging kept me awake up till now.  Will be heading to the sack once I get this posted.

Let me tell you, I am a Facebook addict.  If you have account there, please please please let me know so I can add you too.  It is so much more fun than Friendster which I have an account for a long long time.  Never really stay active with Friendster.  But with facebook, you can have so many different applications on your profile, you can send gifts, flowers, fishes, smiley faces and MORE.  Check it out if you haven’t.  Is fun!

First Day of Class

This morning the stupid garbage truck woke Brandon up at 730am, earlier than I wanted him to wake up, at 815am.  The garbage truck is just too loud.  I closed all windows and doors, but still the noise woke him up.  I had just finished my breakfast but yet to brush teeth and get ready.  One thing I got done was the diaper bag.

One more thing to do this morning as I woke up with lots of ants in the kitchen floor.  So I had to clear them up before we head out to the class.  We managed to gather ourselves and leave the home 5 mins before 9am.  It took me 5 minutes to get Brandon wear his pants.  Initially he didn’t want to wear it.  I told him we wouldn’t go to class if he didn’t want to wear, then left him in the room while I go out to check for PPP.  He came out with the pants in his hand.  Good I thought, we could now head out.

Parking was difficult as this adult educational center offers a lot of classes, unlike the one we went to in summer where parking was so easy.  I had to park on the street outside the school.  It was 9:10am when we arrived in the school compound.  We hurried to find ROOM #10.  Found it, there were already people in the class.  I quickly signed up and made name tags for Brandon and myself.  Continue reading here.

Parenting Class

I’ve signed up a new class at Torrance Adult School.  We will be trying out the Parenting Toddler Class once a week on Tuesday from 9am to 12pm.  This semester start today, 9/10 and ends on 12/7.  The fee I paid was $43.  I faxed in the registration form last Friday when there was only 1 available place left in the class.  I quickly filled in the registration form with my credit card information and faxed in.  I later called the admin office and was told I got in to the last spot in the class.

I’ve wanted to sign up this class with the same instructor as the music class but her class (on Friday 9am-12pm) is full.  This time our instructor is Harris, not sure if is a female or male yet, will find out tomorrow.  Even though the class is 3 hours long but students can leave and come anytime, though preferably stay for the 3 hours but not obligated to.  Fee is the same as the 1.5 hour music class but the location is a bit farther from our home.  About 9 miles round trip.  Will update once we had our first class.

Last Music Class

Post dated: 8/2/2007

Today we attended the last music class (9-18 months) for Brandon at Torrance adult school.  We had the regular instruments and prop time but the session was shorter than regular class.  By 10am, we finished and had a little party in the class before everyone parted.

I didn’t really mingle with the other moms as much yet because I have to watch Brandon running around.  I am very careful with him as I was afraid that he might trip or accidentally step on other crawlers hands with his heavy sport shoes.  So my eyes are always on him and make sure I am not too far away from reaching him if needed.  It was really difficult to start a conversation with another mom as I can’t really concentrate on the topic we were discussing.
