Everyday I log in here and first thing I get to do is to … delete the SPAM comments.  When I started of, there may be 1 or 2 a day, sometimes none.  But since last week, I’ve been bombarded by more than 10 a day.  I click to delete until my finger can hurt.  Will soon install a spam checker.  Any good recommendation?

Still Harry-Pottering

I am still reading Harry Potter Book 7.  Last 6 books I was able to finish each of them within 2-3 days.  Now 1 week already, I am only 1/4 or may be 1/3 into the book.  I am at Chapter 13 now.  So ‘gun cheung‘ (exciting), but I can only read it after Brandon fell asleep at night.  Sometimes he doesn’t sleep until very late and I am very tired so I fall asleep with him.

Just a conversation

I thought I should jot this down:

Conversation took place on Saturday morning when we were walking towards the Torrance Farmers Market from the parking lot.  Daddy was pushing Brandon in his “monster” Graco Stroller very carefully crossing between rows of cars.  If this stroller sits beside a Combi stroller, it will make it looks like the Gandalf and Hobbit.

Conversation was in Canto, now translated in English.

Mommy: You got money in your saving or not?
Daddy: Got, how much you need?
Mommy: I am thinking of buying something, not sure if you got enough or not.
Daddy: What you want to buy? Got enough, I got many savings mar. Can take out my 401K too if needed.
Mommy: Ooh, don’t worry, no need to touch your 401K.  I am thinking of getting another stroller.
Daddy: Cheh, I thought you wanted to get another house. Stroller only mar, go buy and charge to the credit card, no need to ask me.
Mommy: But we have so many strollers at home already, feel bad to buy another one but this stroller very bulky and hard to manuever when we are inside the shops in the mall.  The other umbrella one he doesn’t like to sit in it because his side views are obstructed.
Daddy: Aiya, only a few hundreds only mar, you thinking of getting a Maclaren stroller (this is BMW of stroller, they are expensive).
Mommy: Not sure yet, haven’t research … *she saw a bucket full of peach samples and went to take one for Brandon.*

End of conversation.

He thought I want to buy a house.  HA … should have said YES! I wanted a new house.  But if we do get a new house, I probably have to go out and work full time to supplement the mortgage.  Our mortgage now is so as low as people paying rental for a 2 rooms apartment in this area.  Guess, we will not be moving anywhere soon.  Unless we “chong” (win) lotto lar.

Busy Harry Potter-ing

Got the finale book at Sam’s club on Sunday.  They still have tonnes of Harry Potter the Deadly Hallow for sale at $18.18 each.  Only after I purchased the book I saw Target’s ad selling this title for $17.99.  19 cents cheaper.  Should have gotten it from Target as we visited it yesterday too.

So from today onwards, I will stop blogging during my night time when my boy falls asleep.  It time to catch up with some reading … reading Harry Potter the 7th book.  It has about 750 pages.  I wish I have more time that I can go back reading the previous book to refresh my memory, but I can’t because time wise, I won’t be able to do so … and also mainly becos the series is very ‘gun cheung’ … have to just read and continue on.

Cloth Diaper Crazy

I enjoy so much shopping for cloth diapers.  I have added another 2 more pocket diapers to my collection with a total of 5 pocket diapers and 6 fitted diapers at this time.  And most importantly, I am using my blogging money for these diapers and I feel like they are free.  Saw another cute Fuzzi Bunz Zoo print pocket diaper with free shipping and 10% discount.

When I receive the cloth diapers in the mail, I am all excited and feel like I had purchase something for myself.  The reason being that I haven’t been shopping much for myself since the baby arrived.  But with these cloth diapers, I just feel like I am buying them for me.  So funny … imagine me fitting in those tiny cloth diaper.  Oops … I don’t look too good in it.

Shopping for new bed

Since last weekend we’ve been shopping for bed. We are hoping to move Brandon to his own room in the next few weeks. It seems to me that the crib he is sleeping now next to my bed is too small. He rolls around a lot and sometimes I caught him sleeping in “weird” positions (see pictures below) in the middle of the night. And sometimes he would climb up to our bed to sleep with me. His sleeps all 360 degree around our bed. I usually get a backache the next morning because I have to sleep to accommodate this little boy. No “good” night sleep for me.

Our shopping took us to several baby furniture stores and also to Ikea. We want to get a bunk bed because the room is rather small. With a bunk bed and if I have families visiting, they can share the bed. My choice would be a double/full size bed at the bottom with a single on the top. Full size because I know I would probably need to sleep with him for a while before he can sleep by himself. Also if we have a second baby, they can sleep together on the full size bed. My second choice would be just a double size bed. We have yet to decide as we are planning to visit a few mattress stores before we purchase anything. Hubby suggested we just get the full size mattress and put it on the floor for now. So we’ll see how.

Cloth Diaper saving environment?

I spoke to my sister regarding my new discovery of cloth diapers and how I’ve bought the diapers so I can help to save the environment.  Then she questioned me:

Don’t you have to use more water to wash the cloth diapers now?  Somemore have to wash everyday.  Wouldn’t that be a waste of water since water is our main resource?

Orange County Fair

We took Brandon to Orange County Fair today. We arrived around 1130am.  It was a sunny day but I didn’t bother to put sunscreen on my boy (will explain in another post), he got tanned.  I got tanned.  Daddy got tanned too.  We are now the ”dark” tanned family.

We were able to come very close to some of the barn animals - goats, sheep, cow, llama, pigs and more.  There are also competitions during the day time and concerts at night.  You need to purchase a separate ticket to enter the concert theater.

There were a lot of craft booths and rides.  It seems like a lot of food stalls but actually they are all the same type of food - hotdog, burgers, frieds, lemonade, ice-cream and so on.  The fair was filled with lots of rides - for kids and for adults.  Just like Penang Pesta last time when we used to go with our family at the end of the year and they had all the kiddie rides - merry-go-around, ferris wheel, games and etc.  But the rides here are more “canggih” (high-tech) compared to the Penang Pesta.

We had lunch there, nothing fancy.  Fed Brandon his home made porridge.  Took him on the largest ferris wheel in the fair.  We were basically hugging each other when the ferris wheel stopped at the highest point to load passengers at the bottom.  Brandon was nervous because of the ferris wheel sudden stopped and we were overlooking the ground from the top.  At first I got nervous too but after a little while I got used to it.  Guess both of us have height phobia.

Left the fair around 230pm.  Brandon napped while we were going home.  And continued napping after we took him out from the car into the house for another 1hr.

A nice picture of Brandon and Mommy at the OC Fair.
